A domain is a unique address on the internet that serves as a "name" for websites and emails. It simplifies internet addresses and is hierarchically structured, consisting of a domain extension after the dot (e.g. .ch), a freely selectable middle part (e.g. your-own-domain.ch), possible subdomains (e.g. shop.your-own-domain.ch), and the optional prefix "www." If you already have a domain, you can easily transfer it to Emubox. First, request a transfer code from your current provider. Since the revision of the Swiss Ordinance on Internet Domains (VID), which has been in effect since January 1, 2021, contact information such as name and address of domain owners in Switzerland cannot be published anymore. On the European level, this has been the case since the GDPR already. Using our Whois page from Emubox, it is still possible to find information about the registrar of a domain in such cases. You will see at least which provider registered the domain. Depending on the country and corresponding law under which a registrar operates, you can also find information about the domain owner through Whois search.
